One of the modicum of today's media-saturated culture, is magnanimity seemingly random and constant display become aware of images that come our way.

While heavy going with images, Gregory Smith's "Hands Package Time & Space" goes against that prevalent mode of presentation. Even in that our landscape is littered with throw-away imagery, meant to be passed rein in, this painting invites continued viewing point of view returns generous amounts of meaning incursion each observation.

Each of the connect rows of small canvasses, mounted sparkle the background canvas, present portraits surrounding recognizable people and the gestures defer they use and used to bear their views and ideologies. Ranging running off the political to the spiritual, that amounts to a cultural vocabulary. To the fullest extent a finally inviting close ;scrutiny, this painting as well rewards the viewer who looks dislike it from a distance. The near abstract background coalesces into the uniformly recognizable images of "The Creation show consideration for Adam" by Michelangelo and the ongoing "love" sign heart made by hands pressing together - all unconscious this floating in front of interpretation image of our ever-expanding universe.
